Johannes Brecht Trio announces next single ‘Call Me Monday’ from upcoming album ‘Disparaître’

Monday, June 10, 2024 - For those looking for a prime example of how the worlds of electronic music and of a jazz band can unite, find the answer in the new single ‘Call Me Monday’ by Johannes Brecht Trio. The driving beat of the track sets a clear techno attitude from the start. However, the instrumentation surrounding it stays true to a live performance setup. With organic build-ups and instruments engaging in spontaneous dialogue, there's a palpable sense of dynamic interaction. Each instrument reacts and responds to the others, creating a lively experience that transcends the confines of traditional electronic music. This fusion of electronic and live elements adds depth and complexity to the track.

‘Call Me Monday’ is out now via all platforms.

“The track is extremely playable live, I can imagine a really energetic set with it,” says Johannes Brecht.

While audiences may recognize Johannes Brecht for his contributions to the electronic music scene, having made his mark over the years, he is no stranger to the jazz world. His upcoming album ‘Disparaître’, marks a reunion with his old jazz ensemble after 15 years apart. Along with Antonio Farris and Matteo Capreoli, Johannes Brecht spent three days jamming at Brewery Studios in Berlin, resulting in a collection of nine experimental electronic jazz tracks by the trio. Without any prepared material for recording, the trio embarked on a recording process centered around improvisation and collaboration. This spontaneous approach added a genuine and lively energy to their sessions, allowing for pure creativity and unfiltered expression.

“We shared a few tracks we were listening to beforehand, but really there was no plan for what we were going to do. It was all extremely loose,” says Johannes.

The album title, ‘Disparaître,’ means "to disappear," as Johannes Brecht explains. It encapsulates themes of transcendence and transformation, symbolizing the act of losing oneself in the music and reflecting the immersive nature of the creative process. The album itself perfectly exemplifies this concept. As genre boundaries and individual artistry fade away, new avenues of sound and possibilities unfold.

“This album is a first step, but it’s still a search,Johannes Brecht says, it must go even further”.

‘Disparaître’ is out on June 28th via CORE Records.

About Johannes Brecht
Johannes Brecht is a name synonymous with elegance and authenticity in the electronic music scene. For over a decade, this Stuttgart-born producer has made waves with his masterfully executed productions, carving out a unique space in the fast-changing landscape of electronic music. With roots deeply embedded in jazz, Johannes has always prioritized spontaneity and independence, qualities that shine through in every track he creates. "I try to live an optimistic life, to enjoy the moment. With my music, I try to have this positive standpoint too," he says, and this philosophy is reflected in the uplifting nature of his sound.

Growing up in a family of musicians, Johannes started playing the piano and double bass at an early age, eventually finding his musical identity through jazz. His foray into electronic music began through a collaboration with deep house veteran Henrik Schwarz, releasing his first EP on Schwarz’s label in 2013. Over the years, Johannes has evolved continuously, surprising and delighting listeners with every new release. As a key member of the Diynamic label family and a close collaborator with Solomun, Johannes's work is consistently praised for its refreshing originality.

Eschewing the easy path, Johannes prefers using real instruments over samples, infusing his tracks with the vibrant energy of a jazz band. After eight years and numerous releases with Diynamic, Johannes is now embarking on a new journey with CORE Records, where he is set to release his new Johannes Brecht Trio album Disparaître
